PDCA Industry Standards

Click here to access the PDCA Industry Standards.

PDCA developed its Industry Standards to make the painting and decorating industry transparent to those who rely upon it to make a living, as well as to those who purchase its services. PDCA Industry Standards are the measure by which the quality of wall coating work can be evaluated by the consumer. PDCA Industry Standards protect the contractor by establishing limits on the extent and verifiable uniformity of a project. At the same time, PDCA Industry Standards protect the consumer by requiring work that is free from defects, deficiencies and significant variations of coating applications. PDCA’s Industry Standards save contractors time and money when used and referenced in painting work bids and contracts.

Each Standard is organized into seven sections:

  1. Scope
  2. Significance and use
  3. Reference documents and standards
  4. Definitions
  5. Standard specification
  7. Disclaimer of liability

The Standards discuss a range of issues that commonly become the subject of misunderstandings or, in extreme cases, contract disputes and provide guidance for both the contractor and the layman about how such differences can best be avoided.

All participants in the architectural, engineering, design, construction, and painting & wallcovering industry benefit from the use and circulation of the PDCA Industry Standards. All consumers benefit from the use of PDCA Standards by those they contract with, to provide best value for their painting and decorating expenditures.
